Who Owns Jet Airways..?

Jet Airways owner Naresh Goyal was once Rs 300-a-month accountant in his uncle’s modest travel firm called East West Agencies. Intelligence agencies are not the only ones that have raised the bogey of Jet’s antecedents. Several prominent politicians have expressed alarm and questioned successive governments about Naresh Goyal’s sources of funding. Some things are well known, even undeniable.

The question is how did a man who was Rs 300-a-month accountant in his uncle’s modest travel firm went on to own Jet Airways..? Who gave him the money..?

No Bank can loan you so much money that you can own one of the Largest Airline Company in India. No one today can question Jet Airways owner Naresh Goyal dominance over commercial aviation.

This is even more remarkable given that he has gone from a two-aircraft fleet in 1993 to a 53-aircraft one today.

  1. Jet Airways has won dozens of awards it has won over the last 13 years.
  2. Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Services’ from Ernst & Young in 2000
  3. Outstanding Asian-Indian’ award for leadership and contribution to the global community by the Indian American Centre for Political Awareness in 2003
  4. Aerospace Laurels Award for outstanding achievement in the field of commercial air transport, awarded twice, in April 2000 and February 2004.

Why then is this man — credited with creating one of India’s finest brands, the friend of the glamorous and the powerful — periodically under a shadow, the contours of which no one is ever willing to clearly spell out?

Indian intelligence Agencies are saying that he has received his funds from Underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim.

According to sensitive Home Ministry files , one reference says he has been a “steady recipient of large dubious investments originating from Gulf Sheikhs”. Naresh Goyal’s name, in fact, figures in the top secret files of agencies few would like to be seen in. He has also gone down in the records of the Intelligence Bureau.

When in 2001 , Ministry of Civil Aviation asked the Home Ministry for a security clearance because Jet Airways was adding new members to its Board of Directors The then Joint Director Anjan Ghosh sent damaging inputs to Sangita Goirala, a joint secretary in the Home Ministry. Ghosh’s secret communique said, “We have confirmed information of intermittent contacts between Naresh Goyal and underworld dons, Chhota Shakeel and Dawood Ibrahim, to settle financial issues. There is strong suspicion that parts of Goyal’s investments may have accrued through the assistance of underworld groups…”

Former Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav waved a RAW Note in parliament asking How Indian government gave Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal a security clearance when his funding trail runs cold in the Isle of Man, a well-known tax haven.

According to Indian investigation agencies – Jet Airways is owned by Tail Winds Limited, which is registered in the Isle of Man. And nobody knows who owns the Tail Winds Ltd .

Naresh Goyal’s source of funds cannot be investigated due to NEW Laws that came under Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. And more importantly , Jet Airways owned – Naresh Goyal’ is politically well connected and has refused to part with any information on his source of funds ,claiming NRI status. Jet Airways has responded , “What’s wrong? Many Indian companies operate from there. The government has given security clearance. We don’t want to add anything. We hope to fly to the US within one-two months..”

Many people in the Indian media have questioned – the unconditional security clearance given to Jet Airways..

When Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA Government was in Power , Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal had the necessary Political Connections to get sensitive information that Civil Aviation Ministry was going open UK Sector to Private Airline Companies, what is more important he also had informal assurance of getting permission from Civil Aviation Ministry to fly Jet Airways to UK. Had someone high up in the Ministry of Civil Aviation underwritten those assurances?

Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal then bought seven slots at London’s Heathrow Airport in July 2004, almost six months before the government opened international routes for private airlines. He paid millions of US Dollars upfront for landing , Parking and fuelling rights .Jet went ahead a full six months before the government had even decided to open the route.

This allowed Jet Airways to stay WAY AHEAD of its competitors in the field of Civil Aviation. When Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government was in Power , Jet Airways got all the security clearances from N.K.Singh committee.

The Union Home Ministry gave a clean chit to Jet Airways inspite of adverse remarks from the IB. the then Home secretary Kamal Pandey and Civil Aviation Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain had given clean chit for Jet Airways.

Shahnawaz Hussain was the Union Civil Aviation Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA Government was known to be close to Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal

Union Civil Aviation Minister in UPA Government – Praful Patel from NCP also favoured Jet Airways as the ministry of civil aviation gave it the much-coveted permission to fly to the US, making it the country’s first private sector airline to fly on the lucrative sector. State carrier Air-India gets a major portion of its revenue from this sector.

We see that both NDA and UPA Government gave favors to Jet Airways , while not questioning its financing.

  1. Civil Aviation Ministry ( during NDA government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ) favoured Jet Airways , by opening Lucrative UK Sector to Jet Airways.
  2. Civil Aviation Ministry again ( during UPA government under Congress President Sonia Gandhi ) favoured Jet Airways ,by giving it the much-coveted permission to fly to the US

Civil Aviation Ministry under Syed Shahnawaz Hussain had given advance information to Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal that Civil Aviation Ministry was going open lucrative UK Sector to Private Airline Companies. Jet Airways owner – Naresh Goyal was absolutely sure of getting the much-coveted permission to fly to the United Kingdom (UK). As a result , Jet Airways bought seven slots at London’s Heathrow Airport in July 2004, almost six months before the government opened international routes for private airlines. In other words , Jet Airways was the country’s first private sector airline to fly on the lucrative sector. State carrier Air-India gets a major portion of its revenue from this sector.

Again when Praful Patel ( NCP ) was the Civil Aviation minister gave Jet Airways the much-coveted permission to fly to the US, making it the country’s first private sector airline to fly on the lucrative sector.

Both NDA ( Supported by RSS / SANGH PARIVAR ) and UPA Government gave favours to Jet Airways in a manner that it made Windfall profits.

Under NDA , Jet Airways was the first Indian airline company to get permission to fly to United Kingdom (UK)..

Under UPA , Jet Airways was the first Indian airline company to get permission to fly to United States of America (USA).

Both NDA under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and UPA under Sonia Gandhi SCREWED State carrier Air-India to favour Jet Airways , as it gets a major portion of its revenue from both this sectors ( UK and USA ).

All this shows , all our TOP politicians would SCREW this country to be in the good books of Underworld Don – Dawood Ibrahim. There are reports that Dawood Ibrahim has employed many retired IB and RAW officials in his business empire giving them Lakhs as salaries.
